Make disciples of all nations

Ministries & outreach

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19

Radio

Captivated by Christ

In 2013, the elders of GRPC introduced a radio ministry to the Greeneville community. It is our aim to bring glory and honor to God through Christ-centered preaching and systematic teaching through the books of the Bible.

We unashamedly proclaim that God’s Word is infallible, inerrant, and sufficient for all of life; therefore, we fervently teach the Bible as the authoritative Word of God — expositionally, verse-by-verse, in its historical and grammatical context.

Mission

Beyond Greeneville

The Lord Jesus charged his church to make disciples of all nations. Our first field is Greeneville, but the same commission sends us farther. Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church supports the training of ministers and the spread of the gospel through confessional seminaries, the missions work of the Bible Presbyterian Church, a church plant in rural Adams County, Ohio, the placement of the Scriptures, and a missionary family laboring along the Appalachian Trail.

We ask the congregation to remember these works in prayer, and to give as the Lord provides. An educated ministry and an open Bible are ordinary means by which Christ builds his church — here, and well beyond our county line.

Seminary · Greenville, South Carolina

Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary

Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary was founded in 1986 by ruling elders who wanted a school patterned after old Princeton: high standards in the biblical languages, systematic theology, and preaching, and a faculty publicly bound to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. Its stated purpose, drawn from the charter under which Princeton Seminary was formed in 1812, is to furnish congregations with enlightened, humble, zealous, and laborious pastors — men who will truly believe, cordially love, and therefore preach, propagate, and defend the system of doctrine set forth in the Westminster Standards.

The seminary is deliberately narrow. Its divinity curriculum is aimed at one calling: preparing men to preach the Word, administer the sacraments, and shepherd the flock of Christ. Students work through Greek and Hebrew, exegesis, biblical and systematic theology, church history, apologetics, and pastoral theology, so that the whole counsel of God — not a private opinion — shapes their ministry. In supporting GPTS, we are investing in the next generation of undershepherds for Christ’s church, at home and on the mission field.

Missions agency · Bible Presbyterian Church

Presbyterian Missionary Union — General Fund

The Presbyterian Missionary Union is the missions agency associated with the Bible Presbyterian Church. Founded in 1985, PMU exists to help local congregations fulfill the Great Commission without compromising the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. A Missions Council of ministers and elders directs the work. Its doctrinal position is the Bible as summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.

The Union’s labor includes home missions and the planting of Reformed congregations in North America, assistance to pastors, and foreign fields where the gospel is preached and churches are gathered under the doctrines of grace. Gifts to the PMU General Fund underwrite that shared work — identifying fields, caring for missionaries, and administering the mission — rather than a single named project. We support the General Fund because a steady, undesignated gift strengthens the whole witness, not only the field that happens to be before us this month.

Church plant · Adams County, Ohio

Foothills Reformed BP Mission — Rev. Jason Waeber

The foothills of Adams County, Ohio — the field of Foothills Reformed BP Mission

Rev. Jason Waeber and his family serve with the Presbyterian Missionary Union at Foothills Reformed BP Mission in Adams County, Ohio (Winchester), a work of the Great Lakes Presbytery of the Bible Presbyterian Church. Jason, a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando), is planting a confessional congregation in a rural county where historic Protestant churches have largely declined and sound biblical churches are scarce.

The mission longs for a revival of ordinary churches with orderly worship and historical doctrine — churches that call people to repent, believe the gospel, and live under the lordship of Christ according to the Westminster Standards. They meet for preaching, worship, fellowship, and outreach, seeking to gather a particular congregation that is Reformed, evangelical, and faithful. We are glad to support this nearby home-missions work as it labors to establish another Bible Presbyterian church in the foothills of the Appalachians.

Scripture distribution

The Gideons International

Since 1899, The Gideons International has been an association of Christian business and professional men, together with their wives, devoted to winning others to the Lord Jesus Christ. They do that work in three ways: strengthening one another, sharing the gospel, and placing copies of God’s Word where people are often looking for hope. The hotel Bible is the placement most people know. The same labor reaches hospitals, schools, prisons, military settings, and other public places, in partnership with local churches around the world.

A Bible left in a room is a quiet missionary. It can be read when no preacher is present, and the Spirit has often used that printed Word to call sinners to Christ. Our support of the Gideons is support of that simple work: getting the Scriptures into hands that might not otherwise receive them. “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty” (Isaiah 55:11).

PMU missionary · Unionville, New York

Doug and Priscilla Douma

Rev. Douglas Douma and his wife, Priscilla, serve with the Presbyterian Missionary Union in Unionville, New York, a short walk from the Appalachian Trail. Doug, an ordained minister in the Bible Presbyterian Church, is pastor of the congregation there and founder of Sola — Appalachian Christian Retreat. Priscilla, a nurse who has also served among orphans, shares in the hospitality and care the retreat offers to travelers.

Each year thousands of people set out on the trail, which runs some 2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine and passes through the mountains of our own region. Many begin the walk in the wake of loss, a broken home, or some other hard providence, and spend months thinking about what will give them peace. At Sola, the Doumas proclaim Christ to that community, so that hikers might find a peace the trail itself cannot give. Alongside that work, Pastor Douma preaches and shepherds the local church. We are glad to have a part in a ministry that meets people on the move with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Seminary · Pacific Northwest

Western Reformed Seminary

Western Reformed Seminary was founded in 1983 as a seminary of the Bible Presbyterian Church, to train ministers, missionaries, and other Christian workers from the Pacific Northwest. Its aim is a classical theological education: detailed study of Scripture, theology, and church history, joined to the practical work of pastoral care and biblical counseling. The seminary’s hope is to send out servants who are spiritually grounded, knowledgeable, and able to feed the flock of Christ.

WRS stands in the same confessional family as this congregation. Courses of study prepare men for the gospel ministry and equip other Christian workers for teaching, counsel, and service in the church. Supporting the seminary is one way we help provide an educated ministry for Bible Presbyterian and other Reformed churches — workers ready to handle the Word of truth and to shepherd souls with conviction and care.
